We are seeking a talent acquisition specialist to join Donohue & Associates, a growing engineering consulting firm for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. In this position, you will have a critical role in ensuring that we are hiring the best possible talent and achieving staffing objectives by recruiting, evaluating, and interviewing job candidates; working collaboratively with company leadership and the talent acquisition team; advocating for the Donohue brand; maintaining and optimizing our ATS and recruiting tools; participating in select career fairs; and coordinating onboarding. Experience in the engineering services sector is highly desirable. Preferred location is Sheboygan, Wis.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of the company’s organizational structure, benefits, and mission
- Meet routinely with talent team to discuss hiring updates and needs
- Attract applicants by placing job advertisements and contributing to social media posts
- Determine applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants; analyze responses, verify references, and compare qualifications to job requirements
- Identify potential talent using various sourcing techniques and reaching out to preferred candidates
- Work with external recruiters upon request
- Champion employee referral program
- Use ATS system effectively
- Arrange candidate interviews by coordinating schedules with management and technical staff; arrange travel and itineraries
- Participate in select career fairs
- Monitor job offers and compensation practices; emphasize benefits and perks
- Actively participate in intern program by contacting and interviewing potential interns, conducting orientation, advising managers on training and coaching, and obtaining feedback from intern experiences
- Understand employment laws and best practices in the states we are located; keep managers up-to-date and conduct training, when needed
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
- Participate in employee check-ins to help strengthen engagement and retention, as requested
- Perform other human resources, administrative, and project tasks as requested by Donohue’s management committee and other managers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1-3+ years of experience desired
- Prior corporate recruiting for professional positions preferred; engineering industry a plus
- ATS experience
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or PHR certification a plus
- Strong organizational and notetaking skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products
- General knowledge of current employment laws and practices
- Effective collaboration is essential, as the role will work closely with other talent acquisition specialists, HR, and management to deliver aligned and effective recruiting outcomes
- Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work
- Ability to travel occasionally for interviews and career fairs
- Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently
